You're Takin a Shiznit

Mike Garcia

Written about Steve "Bubba" Cowles, one of our alumni.  He has a propensity to, uh, "use the restroom" during phone conversations, and that's what this song is about.  I was stationed at MT with him from 1988-1990.

Your Mom's Hot

Mike Garcia

Your Mom's Hot is based on a chord progression that Henry Hatch (another MT alumnus) taught me how to play years ago.  I doubt he envisioned it developing into this particular song, but oh well.  And don't worry... I don't really want your mom.

Strength

Mike Garcia

There's a bass guitar through a distortion box, and the lead is played on a Yamaha acoustic.  It's a song about not letting certain people (who are no longer my friends) get under my skin.  Of course, they must have succeeded because why the heck would I have wasted time writing and recording this song otherwise?  I didn't think about that at the time...

Solstice

Mike Garcia

This is a bitter "break-up" song that I wrote and recorded under the artist name "Richard & the Twins" a few years ago.  It's a ballad... so sad! (sniff sniff).  It will move you, or it will cause you to have a "movement".  Steven "Bubba" Cowles heard this tune and commented that "the guitar playing is better than the singing".  Gee, that's a shock.  That's another way of saying, "You sound like a 1972 Chevy Nova dragging a muffler."
